LOS ANGELES, CA- Michelman & Robinson, LLP, (“M&R”) a dynamic full service law firm with locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orange County is pleased to announce that Andrew H. Selesnick and Tina M. Alleguez will be joining the Firm as a Partner and in an Of Counsel position respectively, in its Los Angeles Office.
Mr. Selesnick and Ms. Alleguez bring over twenty years of incomparable experience and expertise in a diversity of business law matters, including health care, corporate formation and transactions, business litigation, and more to M&R, beginning February 17, 2009. Joining Mr. Selesnick and Ms. Alleguez will be associate, Jason Cheuk.
Mr. Selesnick, who will Chair the Firm’s Health Care Law Practice Group, has achieved an unparalleled level of success throughout his career in representing all specialties in health care litigation; business formation, dissolution, acquisitions, and risk management. He has successfully litigated a number of the state’s most high profile health care cases including those involving all of the major health plans, as well as many independent practice associations, securing millions of dollars for his clients.
Mr. Selesnick’s recent notable cases include representing a health care company on behalf of approximately 50,000 physicians in a $94 million nationwide claim against a major payer and representing the American College of Emergency Physicians, State Chapter of California, Inc. in a regulatory dispute brought by payer advocacy groups to change the methodology to reimburse non-contracted emergency service providers.
In 2009, he was featured in the Los Angeles Times and the Daily Journal, among others, for his involvement in one of California’s most controversial health care decisions, Prospect Medical Group v. Northridge Emergency Medical Group, et al. (2009) S142209 Ct.App. 2/3 B172737, in which the state’s Supreme Court held that patients cannot be billed when their HMOs fail to pay. As a result of his expertise in health care matters, Mr. Selesnick has been invited by both the State Senate and the State Assembly to comment on legislation and regulations affecting providers.
Like Mr. Selesnick, Ms. Alleguez’s knowledge and experience in both litigation and transactional matters brings an added dimension to M&R’s already well-respected practice. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Ms. Alleguez’s versatility is reflected in the significant successes that she has achieved in a wide variety of legal fields, including international business, entertainment law, business litigation, insurance defense with an emphasis in premise and product liability, and corporate law. Ms. Alleguez has been selected to both the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals, as well as Southern California’s Super Lawyers. She is the Director of the Hispanic Business Network and held the title of Ambassador to the Encino Chamber of Commerce from 2002-2005.
Prior to joining M&R, Mr. Selesnick and Ms. Alleguez founded the law firm of Alleguez & Selesnick. The firm was involved in obtaining critical health care decisions throughout California.
